Introducing the first AAAWE-PERI visiting scholar


elizabeth-lwanga-nanziri-lrgWe are pleased to announce that Ms. Elizabeth Lwanga Nanziri is the first AAAWE-PERI Fellow and she is hosted at the African Development Policy Program at Political Economy Research Institute (PERI) at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for Fall 2015. Elizabeth is a Doctoral candidate at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town. She is the Director of Communications of the Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE) and Director of AAAWE-South Africa. This Fellowship is a joint collaborative initiative of AAAWE and PERI. Under the Fellowship program, African woman economists will be hosted as visiting scholars at PERI.

The key objective of the fellowship is to contribute to enhancing the capacity of African women economists to produce high quality research and increase the visibility of their research. The fellowship will offer fellows the opportunity to be in a unique environment that hosts the highest concentration of scholars working on Africa. For 2015-16, the program is supported by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation.
